Building Hope

We are not a charity for the disadvantaged — at our core — we’re a movement with them. Their strength, faith, and determination inspire us every day.

Friends of Río Torres is building safe, permanent homes for families currently living on the edge of the Río Torres ravine in Costa Rica.

These families face floods, landslides, and dangerously contaminated water.

For just $5,000 USD, you can sponsor an entire home — and change a family’s life forever.

Our goal in 2025 is to raise $50,000 USD to build 10 homes.

Whether you donate to our cause, sponsor a home or share with someone who can help. We thank you, every bit counts.

Why We Exist

We believe in a world where even the most marginalised have a shot at dignity, safety, and purpose.

Hundreds of families live informally along the banks of the Río Torres in San José, Costa Rica — without secure housing, education, or basic services.

Friends of Río Torres exists to support these families through practical partnerships — building homes, providing access to education, and working with the community to create safer, more stable futures.

As the government prepares to evict residents, we’re also engaging with the San José Municipality to ensure any transition out of the ravine is safe, fair, and lasting.
